IRN from your bill
Your regular invoice becomes an e-invoice.
- Details from the bill
- IRN and acknowledgement saved
- Status for every invoice
If your turnover has crossed ₹5 crore, every B2B invoice, credit note and debit note must be reported to the Invoice Registration Portal. Milaan ERP turns your normal bill into an e-invoice, prints the IRN and signed QR, and keeps the status of every invoice in one list.

E-invoicing does not mean making invoices on a government website. You still make the invoice in your own software. The difference is that, before you give it to the customer, its details are sent to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP). The IRP checks them, gives the invoice a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN) and returns a digitally signed QR code.
Since 1 August 2023, this has been compulsory for businesses whose turnover has crossed ₹5 crore in any year since 2017-18. It covers B2B invoices, credit notes, debit notes and exports. Bills to ordinary consumers (B2C) do not need it.
Milaan ERP makes e-invoicing part of normal billing. You make the bill as usual. The details go for registration, the IRN and QR come back and print on the invoice, and the same details flow into your GSTR-1 automatically. If something is wrong, like an inactive GSTIN, you see the error straight away and can fix it.
Because the e-invoice already has the transport details you need, the e-way bill can follow from it with very little extra work.
These are the issues businesses face most often after crossing the ₹5 crore limit.
Bills are made in one software and typed again on the portal.
The e-invoice is created from the bill you already made. Nothing is typed twice.
A wrong GSTIN or HSN is found only after the truck has left.
If the IRP rejects an invoice, you see the reason immediately and can correct it.
The invoice goes out without the IRN and QR, and the customer asks for a fresh copy.
The IRN and signed QR print on the invoice as soon as they come back.
An e-invoice is cancelled on the portal but stays active in the books.
Cancel within the allowed 24 hours and the bill is marked cancelled in Milaan ERP too.
Everything you need to stay compliant, without changing how your team bills.
Your regular invoice becomes an e-invoice.
The government QR appears on the invoice.
Notes are e-invoiced too.
Fix problems before goods leave.
Cancel properly, inside the time allowed.
Move goods with very little extra work.
What happens behind the scenes when you save a B2B bill.
Create the invoice as usual: customer, items, rates. The software checks GSTIN, HSN and amounts before it goes anywhere.
The invoice details are sent to the Invoice Registration Portal, which checks them and returns an IRN and signed QR code.
The invoice prints or goes on WhatsApp with the IRN and QR on it. The e-way bill can follow from the same details.
E-invoice details flow into your GSTR-1 automatically, so the return matches what you reported.
E-invoicing applies once your aggregate turnover crosses ₹5 crore in any financial year from 2017-18 onwards, and once you are in, you stay in. It covers B2B invoices, credit and debit notes, and exports. A few sectors, such as banks, insurance companies and goods transport agencies, are exempt.
An e-invoice can be cancelled only within 24 hours on the portal. Businesses with turnover of ₹10 crore or more must also report invoices to the IRP within 30 days of the invoice date, or the portal will not accept them.
